It has been three years since we moved to our new facility. As you know, we dedicated our Sierra Point Credit Union building to our long time Credit Union member, volunteer and friend, Florence Hawley. We believe it is important that we always remember and recognize those who helped SPCU prosper for us all. Fortunately, the Board of Directors had the forethought to honor Florence prior to her death with a certificate dedicating the new facility to her. Florence was delighted and felt honored by the Board’s action. The following are Florence’s words written just prior to her death.

"To the Board of Directors,

It is a great honor that you have bestowed upon me. Your great gift was totally unexpected and greatly appreciated. The Credit Union has been so important to many people as a foundation for building lives and hopes. I received more from the Credit Union than I ever gave to the Credit Union.

Thanks again,

Faithfully,
Florence"

We will always remember her spirit and dedication to the credit union community and specifically to SPCU. Florence gave 25 years of her time to the membership and was a driving force behind the success of SPCU. We will miss her immensely and know she is watching and guiding us daily.

Kristine Sandmeier

Kristine Sandmeier has been chosen as Employee of the Quarter for the quarter ending September 30, 2000. Kristine joined Sierra Point Credit Union as our Accounting Services Representative in May 1999 bringing with her a very diverse background and work experience. Kristine had no Credit Union experience, but came highly recommended from a local business, See's Candy. She had performed Administrative work in her previous jobs, where she handled many detailed oriented responsibilities. As our Accounting Services Representative, Kristine is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of member activity, reconciliation of financial data, accounts payable, ACH and member payrolls, general ledger activity and monthly financial reports.

She was raised in Lodi, California, where she graduated from Lodi High School and went on to attend Truckee Meadows Community College and San Jacquin Delta College, where she studied U.S. History for five years. Kristine's plan was to become a U.S. History teacher, but her plans changed, thankfully for us. She reads, writes and speaks German and spends her free time enjoying tennis and Tai Chi. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pet rabbit, Bob. Kristine was also recently recognized as "Volunteer of the Year" by the Peninsula Family Alternatives Mentoring Program, where she volunteers as a mentor to a school aged child, providing emotional support and guidance.

Our Management staff chose Kristine as Employee of the Quarter for many reasons. Her conscientiousness and consistent high quality of work, strong work ethics, her ability to learn new things with incredible speed and her willingness to help any staff or member in need. She provides outstanding member service and is an exemplary role model for all. Kristine has a great sense of humor, which believe me, comes in handy in her position. Thanks, Kristine, for all you do.
